Bacons Rebellion An attack led by Nathaniel Bacon against American Indians and the colonial government in Virginia.
Indentured Servant a colonist who received free passage to N. America in exchange for working without pay for certain number of years.
Starving Time a time when a lot of people died by disease and famine.
Joint-Stock Company a business formed by a group of people who jointly make an investment and share the profits and losses.
Middle Passage a voyage that brought enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to N. America and the West Indies.
African Diaspora the population of displaced Africans and their descendants around the world.
Triangular Trade trading networks in which goods and slaves moved among England, the American colonies, Africa.
Slave Codes laws passed in the colonies to control slaves.
Royal Colony Colony owned by a king or queen.
Proprietary Colony where the owners controlled the Government
