What is the Universal church? The worldwide church; during the Middle Ages it was the Catholic church.
What is papal supremacy? The pope is the most important person in the church.
What us the Hadith? It is called the traditions, the deeds and sayings of Mohammad.
What is the Sharia? It is rules and regulations that govern day to day life (Koran and Hadith).
What did Arius preach? He preached that Jesus was not God but the best of God's created beings. He was declared a heretic at the Council of Nicea.
List a few of the causes and consquences for the fall of Rome. The Emporor's of Rome were greedy. Tribes outside the empire attact it's borders. In 73 years 20 out of 23 Emporors were murderd. The empire's defenses were weak in the middle but strong on the edges.
What was the policy "convert or die"? When a king became Christian all his subjects had to also, or else they would be killed. If you were caught worshiping someone or thing other than God, you were killed.
How did the "convert or die" policy effect the church? It meant that the church got many new members, but many of them didn't really believe. False ideas came into the church because no one took the time to educate the new Christians.
Who was one of the Kings/Leaders to use the "convert or die" policy? Chalemagne. His empire became "Christian."
What was a reason that Pepin asked the pope for permission to become king? The pope had a lot of influance over most people and if he said that Pepin should be king, no one was going to argue whith him.
