anatomy the structure of a body or body part.
physiology how a body or body system functions.
organ a structural unit in the body that performs a specific function.
cell basic structural unit of the body that divides, develops, and dies, renewing tissues and organs.
chromosome a structure in the nucleus of most cells that contains genetic information.
gene the basic unit of heredity that passes traits from parents to offspring.
epithelial tissue tissue that forms the skin and linings of the organs.
nerve tissue tissue that makes up the brain, spinal cord, and sensory organs.
muscle tissue tissue with the ability to contract and relax; makes up the skeletal muscles, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle in the body.
connective tissue tissue that makes up the bones, cartilage, and blood.
homeostasis the condition in which all of the body’s systems are balanced and are working together to maintain internal stability.
