femur (FEE-mer) thigh bone
fibula (FIB-yoo-lah) smaller lower leg bone

synovial joint (sin-OH-vee-al) Movable joint (ball and socket or hinge)
cartilaginous joints (kar-tih-LAJ-ih-nus) bones connected by cartilage (will have some flex)
fibrous joints (FYE-bruss) joint where bones have fused
fracture (FX, Fx) break
hernia (HER-nee-ah) protrusion
rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (Roo-mah-toyd / ar-THRY-tis) Chronic autoimmune disease (can cause crippling deformities)
rickets (RIK-ets) deficiency of calcium and Vitamin D
osteoarthritis (OA) (oss-tee-oh-ar-THRY-tis) degeneration of bones and joints
systemic lupus erythomatosus (SLE) (sis-TEM-ik / LOO-pus / air-ih-them-ah-TOH-sus) Chronic autoimmune disease (symptom of red butterfly-shaped rash across the face)
ligament attaches bone to bone
tendon attaches muscle to bone
