| Ankylosis (ăng’’kĭ•lō’sĭs) | Immobility of a joint. |
| Blepharoptosis (blĕf’’ă•rō•tō’sĭs) | Drooping of the upper eyelid. |
| Contracture (kŏn•trăk’chūr) | Permanent shortening or contraction of a muscle, often producing physical distortion or deformity. |
| Crepitation (krĕp•ĭ•tā’shŭn) | Crackling sound, such as that produced by the grating ends of a broken bone. |
| Dysphagia (dĭs•fā’jē•ă) | Difficulty in swallowing or inability to swallow. |
| Dysphasia (dĭs•fā’zē•ă) | Impairment of speech resulting from a brain lesion. |
| Embolism (ĕm’bō•lĭzm) | Obstruction of a blood vessel by foreign substances or a blood clot. |
| Luxation (lŭks•ā’shŭn) | Displacement of organs or articular surfaces; complete dislocation of a joint. |
| Paresthesia (păr’’ĕs•thē’zē•ă) | Sensation of numbness, prickling, or tingling. |
| Raynaud phenomenon (rĕ•nō’ fĕ•nŏm’e•nŏn) | Intermittent interruptions of blood supply to the fingers, toes, and sometimes the ears, marked by severe pallor of these parts and accompanied by numbness, tingling, or extreme pain. |
| Tinel sign (tĭn•ĕl’ sīn) | A cutaneous tingling sensation produced by pressing the nerve trunk that has been damaged or is regenerating following trauma; named for Jules Tinel, French neurologist. |
