radial inclination 24 degrees with range of 19-29 degrees
normal palmar tilt 0-22 degrees
3 eponymous classifications of distal radius fracture flattened radial inclination (to the left in supination), shortening impaction (down in supination), and volar tilt reversed to dorsal tilt (right in mid pronation view)
when is a split used when fracture is stable, well aligned, and expected to heal without surgery also because of swelling
when are wires/ kwires used when fracture needs more stability but large operation is unnecesarry
when are plates and screws used (internal fixation) when fracture is unstable, badly displaced, involves a joint, needs very accurate fracture alignment
when are metal frames (external fixators) used in open fractures, major soft tissue damage, severe swelling, and infection risk
