An agreement that applied training participants must sign that states the expectations of the facility and the expectations of the student. affiliation agreement (ă-fi’lē-ā’shŭn ă-grē’mĕnt)
An opportunity to work in a medical facility to gain the essential on-the-job experience for beginning your new career, sometimes known as an externship or practicum. applied training (ă-plīd’ trān’ing)
A professional who procures applied training sites and qualifies, or assesses, them to make certain that they provide a thorough educational experience. Also may be known as a clinical coordinator. applied training coordinator (ă-plīd’ trān’ing kō-ōr’di-nā-tŏr)
The type of résumé used by individuals who have job experience. Jobs are listed according to date, with the most recent listed first. chronological résumé (kron’ŏ-lo’ji-kĕl rez’ŭm-ā)
The person at the clinical site who serves as an instructor but is an employee of the site. clinical preceptor (klin’i-kăl prē’sep-tŏr)
A type of critique aimed at giving an individual feedback about their performance in order to improve that performance. constructive criticism (kon-strŭk’tiv krit’ĭ-siz’ŭm)
A résumé that highlights specialty areas of a person’s accomplishments and strengths. functional résumé (fŭngk’shŭn-ăl rez’ŭm-ā)
Making contacts with relatives, friends, and acquaintances who may have information about how to find a job in your field. networking (nĕt’wŏrk-ĭng)
A collection of an applicant’s résumé, reference letters, and other documents of interest to a potential employer. portfolio (pôrt-fō’lē-ō’)
A brief, general statement that demonstrates a career goal. professional objective (prŏ-fesh’un-ăl ŏb-jek’tiv)
A recommendation for employment from a facility or a preceptor. reference (ref’er-rĕns)
A résumé that is focused on a specific job target. targeted résumé (tahr’gĕt-ed rez’ŭm-ā)
