Persian Gulf War A war over oil disputes between Iraq and surrounding countries in 1990-1991
Six Day War A surprise attack by Israel to its neighbors in 1967. Led to more territory and humiliated the Arabs.
War in Iraq U.S. led overthrowing of Iraq leader, Saddam Hussein in 2003
Arab Spring The protest of dictatorship by different countries in Northern Africa and the Middle East. Led to failed states or new governments. Spread mostly through social media in 2011
IRAN Hostage Crisis The keeping hostage of 52 U.S. citizens by Iran for 444 days.
Partition of Palestine A British issued mandate of the seperation of Arabs and Jews in the British state of Palestine
Suez canal crisis a secret attack on Egypt by Israel over the Suez Canal
Zionism a political movement in the 1880's that was started by Theodor Hertzl. It was for a Jewish country to be made because of Anti-Semetism in Europe
OPEC An organization formed by Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Venezula to take over the oil industry
9/11 A terrorist attack by Al Qaeda on the United States
War on Terror A series of wars from Afgahnistan and Iraq following the attacks of 9/11.
War in Afghanistan A war waged between the U.S. and Afghanistan lasting from 2001 to 2021 following the 9/11 attacks
