meaning of religion religion is the answer to existential questions in life. gives people meaning, hope and something to believe in.
purpose of religion some purposes of religion are; answers questions that science cant answer, builds communities and supports moral guidance.

ultimate reality the absolute nature of things
ritual sets of actions, gestures or words which have symbolic meaning and are sacred.
text written beliefs, stories and ethical principals and moral code of behaviour.
spaces/places special places where religious ceremonies take place
time celebrations that are repeated within the religion
artifacts sacred objects that are used to enhance religious experiences.
social structure the roles and authorities within a religion
stories oral or written narratives usually within sacred texts.
symbols symbols give concrete expressions of abstract ideas/beliefs.
ethics behaviour, and the way we make decisions about what is right and wrong.
belifes articles of faith that adherents take to true evident
spiritual experiences when a powerful emotion is stirred affecting understanding of ultimate reality.
