What is a consul? The two most powerful officials in Rome.
What is a senate? Roman officials who were appointed by the consuls.
What does veto mean? To reject or prohibit actions and laws of other government officials.
What are checks and balances? A system that balances the distribution of power in a government.
What does Latin mean? The language of the Romans.
What is an arch? A structure that spans a space and supports structure and weight above it.
What is an aqueduct? A human raised channel that carries water from distant places.
What is the Civil Law? A legal system based on a written code law.
What was the highest mountain range that separates Italy from the rest of Europe? The Alps Mountains.
What found the twins, Romulus and Remus, at the Tiber River? A shewolf.
Who took the Romulus and Remus from their cave and raised them? A shepherd.
What did City hills give to Rome? A natural defense against intruders.
What did they have accsess to? A nearby port near the Tiber River.

What did the judges judge? Cases.
What did judges manage? The city of Rome.
What did the judges lead? Armies into war.
What could the judges be elected to do? Be a consul.
What could the Plebeians run for? Tribunes.
What did the Tribunes have the right to veto? Any law or action of the magistrates.
What is it forbidden to do to a Tribune? Stop them from doing their job.

What could the Romans do while conquering these states? Control and rule Italy.
