Lethargic lah-THAR-jik A decrease in level of consciousness; an indication that the patient is very sick
What does chief complaint mean? The main reason for the patient's visit
What does SICU stand for? Surgical intensive care unit
Exacerbation eks-AS-er-BAY-shun It's getting worse
What does DDx stand for? Differential diagnosis
what does I/O stand for? Intake and output: The amount of fluids a patient has taken in (by mouth or IV) and produced (usually just urine output)
What does ad lib stand for? As desired
What does review of systems mean? A description of individual body systems in order to discover any symptoms not directly related to the main problem
What does (B) stand for? bilateral (both sides)
What does supine mean? When a person is laying on their back; facing up
