9 Conditions of the Skeletal system

TermDefinition
Ankylosing Spondylitis A form of rheumatoid arthritis that primarily causes inflammation of the jt. b/w the vertebrae
Fibrous Dysplasia a bone disorder of unknown cause that destroys normal bone structure and replaces it w/ fibrous (scarlike) tissue
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis an autoimmune disorder that affects children 16 or less w/ symptoms: stiffness, pain, jt. swelling, skin rash, fever, decrease growth, fatigue
Osteonecrosis death of bone tissue due to insufficient blood supply
Oseoclasis surgical fx of a bone to correct a deformity
Osteoporotic Hip Fx (broken hip), usually caused by weakening of the bones due to osteoporosis. MOI: Spontaneous or result of falling
Paget's Disease (osteitis deformans) unknown cause, characterized by excessive breakdown of bone tissue, following by abnormal bone formation
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) chronic autoimmune disorder which joints and some organs of other body systems are attacked
Rickets (infantile osteomalacia) defective bone growth, results from a vitamin D deficiency that is sometimes due to insufficient exposure to sunlight
