Ancient Egypt

| Nile River | The longest river in the world, also known as the “Gift of the Nile”, which provided mostly life to Egypt. |
| Cataracts | Rough terrain that were formed from rocky hilly land in Egypt. The first marked the border of Upper Egypt down south, along with many others located in the Nile. |
| Delta | Triangle shaped area of land formed and made from the soil deposited from the river. |
| Pharaoh | Leader of Egypt, primarily the title for Egyptian leaders. |
| Dynasty | A series of rulers from the same family. |
| Old Kingdom | A period of Egyptian history, lasting about 500 years. |
| Nobles | People who were from powerful, rich, wealthy families. |
| Khufu | The most famous pharaoh of the period, the Old Kingdom. |
| Afterlife | Life after death. |
| Mummies | Treated bodies wrapped in cloth. |
| Elite | People of wealth and power. |
| Pyramids | One of the most famous landmarks in Egypt, where they were huge stone tombs. They were used to bury their rulers or leaders. |
| Engineering | Application of scientific knowledge used for practical purposes |
| Middle Kingdom | The period of order and stability in Egypt, which lasted to 1750 BC/BCE. |
| New Kingdom | The Period Egypt had reached its power and glory. |
| Trade Routes | Paths that were followed by traders to get to their destination. |
| Queen Hatshepsut | One of the leaders of Egypt that was a woman. |
| Ramses the Great | Another notable leader of Egypt, he had fought one of the groups in Asia, the Hittites. |
| Hieroglyphics | The Egyptian writing system. They were one of the world's first writing systems, like cuneiform. It had included more than 600 symbols, mostly pictures of or from objects. |
| Papyrus | Long lasting, paper-like material made from reeds. As it was made from reeds, the Egyptians pounded them into sheets. They were also important as scribes wrote on papyrus using brushes and ink. |
| Rosetta Stone | The huge stone slab that is inscribed with hieroglyphics, in 1799, was discovered from Napoleon's soldiers in Egypt. |
| Sphinxes | Imaginary Creatures. All of these usually have the bodies of lions and the heads of other animals or humans. |
| Obelisk | A tall piler with four sides that is pointed on top. |
| King Tutankhamen | One of the Pharaohs of Egypt. One tomb was not disturbed mostly by people and that was his tomb. In 1922, people found his tomb. |
