| Transesophageal Echocardiogram | Record of the heart using sound waves performed by inserting the sonograph into the esophagus |

| Cardiac Insufficiency | Heart ceases to function properly |
| Valvectomy | Surgical removal of a heart valve |
| Cardiac Arrest | Cessation of functional circulation |
| Congestive Cardiomyopathy | Heart cavity is unable to pump all the blood out of itself and becomes stretched |
| Atrial Septal Defect | Flaw in the septum that divides the two atria of the heart |
| Atrial Fibrillation | Quivering or spontaneous contraction of muscle fibers in the heart's atrium |
