| Pharynx | The muscular tube behind the nose and mouth, connecting them to the esophagus (throat). |
| Larynx | The hollow, tubular structure containing the vocal cords, located between the pharynx and trachea (voice box). |
| Trachea | The large membranous tube reinforced by rings of cartilage, extending from the larynx to the bronchial tubes (windpipe). |
| Bronchi | The two main branches of the trachea that lead into the lungs. |
| Pulmonology | The branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the respiratory system. |
| Esophagus | The muscular tube that conveys food and liquid from the pharynx to the stomach. |
| Pancreas | A glandular organ behind the stomach that secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine and hormones like insulin into the bloodstream. |
| Liver | A large lobed organ that processes nutrients, filters blood, produces bile, and detoxifies chemicals. |
| Gallbladder | A small, pear-shaped sac under the liver that stores and concentrates bile produced by the liver. |
| Intestines | The long, continuous tube running from the stomach to the anus, comprising the small intestine (for digestion/absorption) and large intestine (for water absorption and waste formation). |
| Ureters | The pair of narrow tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. |
| Urethra | The duct through which urine is discharged from the bladder to the exterior of the body. |
| Prostate | A male gland surrounding the neck of the bladder and urethra that secretes a fluid component of semen. |
| Testes | The male gonads, responsible for producing sperm and the hormone testosterone. |
| Bladder | A muscular, distensible sac in the pelvis that stores urine before disposal via urination. |
