Fall of Rome

TermDefinition
MERCENARY A soldier who fights for money rather than for loyalty to a country or cause.
PLUNDER To steal goods, often by force, during war or conflict.
CONSTANTINE A Roman emperor who legalized Christianity and moved the capital of the Roman Empire to Byzantium (later called Constantinople).
BARBARIAN A term Romans used for people who lived outside the Roman Empire and were considered uncivilized or different.
NOMADIC A way of life in which people move from place to place rather than living in one location, usually to find food or pasture for animals.
DIOCLETIAN A Roman emperor known for dividing the Roman Empire into East and West to make it easier to govern and for persecuting Christians.
CLOVIS The first king of the Franks to unite all Frankish tribes under one ruler; he converted to Christianity, which influenced the spread of the religion in Europe.
