Timing Abbreviations

Terms used in the timing of medications

BID twice daily
TID three times daily
Q every x (Q4hr is every 4 hours, Q3 days is every three days)
QD* daily (not encouraged, often prohibited)
QID* four times daily (not encouraged, often prohibited)
AC before meals
PC after meals
prn as needed
ad lib as desired
QHS at night
