comedo blackheads, dirt and oil stuck in the skins pores
pediculosis lice
eczema inflammatory dermatitis, dry itchy red patches on the skin
psoriasis vulgaris chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disease. aised, red, scaly patches of skin called plaques
Herpes Zoster shingles, inflammation of a nerve.
cellulitis swelling of a body part, due to lymphatic drainage
hypertrophy (keloid) excess collagen during the healing process
cicatrix normal scar tissue.
1st burn only the epidermis. (sunburns)
2nd burn down to the dermis, with blisters.
3rd necrosis(death of tissue) of 2/3 skin layers
4th necrosis(death of tissue) to ALL of the skin layers
basal cell carcinoma most common. DOES NOT metastasize(spread/grow bigger)
squamous cell carcinoma malignant tumor in the epidermis DOES metastasize(spread/grow bigger)
malignant melanoma cancerous growth of the melanocytes
Anhidrosis no sweating/ lack of
Ichthyosis abnormal dryness of skin
mycosis fungal infection
onychomycosis nail fungus
pyoderma skin pus
thyroidectomy surgical removal of wrinkles (Botox)
trichomycosis hair fungus
xanthoma tumor of yellow
xeroderma skin dryness
onycholysis distraction of the nail
onychomycosis soft nail beds
pyorrhea discharge of pus
dermatitis inflammation of the skin due to an outside cause(chemical, temp,allergy)
adipothly removal of fat cells
onychopathy nail disease
jaundice yellowing of the skin, eyes,nails due to liver damage
ecchymosis bruising
petechiae pinpoint hemorrhages red or purple spots that appear on the skin due to bleeding under the surface.
decubitus ulcer bed sore, localized area of skin damage that develops when prolonged pressure is applied to a specific area
diaphoretic/diaphoresis excessive sweating
lipoma tumor of the fat cells
myelocyte pigment cell(black or brown)
erythrocyte red cell
