| Archaeology | The study of past people and cultures through their material remains |
| Anthropology | The study of humans, their societies, and how they developed over time. |
| Geography | The study of environments and certain land masses. Land, climate, water, and resources. |
| Primary Source / Secondary Source | Primary, directly from the time period. Secondary, created after the time period based on primary sources. |
| Historian | A person who studies and writes about the past. Uses written records. |
| Artifact | An object made or used by humans in the past. |
| Culture | The way of life of a certain group of people. Beliefs, customs, language and traditions. |
| Cultural Diffusion | The mix of culture through migration and trade. |

| Civilization | A complex society with cities, organized government, religion, social classes, and writing. |
