| Animism Defention | The belief that all of nature is alive and filled with unseen spirits that can be worshipped or appeased. Animists often believe that a soul or spirit exists in things like trees, stones, and rivers. |
| Goal of Animism | The goal of animism is typically to gain power through the manipulation of spiritual forces or beings for personal or communal benefit. This is in contrast to religion, which often involves surrendering to a higher power |
