Anthropology the study of origins and developement of people and their societies.
Culture the way of life of a society that is handed down from one generation to the next by learning and experince.
Archeology the study of past people and cultures.
Artifact an object made by human beings.
Technology the tools and skills people use to meet their basic needs.
Historian a person who studies how people lived in the past.
Nomad a person who moves from place to place in search af food.
Glacier a thick sheet of ice that covered part of the world during the ice age.
Animism the belief that spirits or forces live in animals, objects, or dreams.
Domesticate to tame animals and adapt crops for purpose of civilization.
Civilization a complex highly organized social order.
Surplus extra or excess.
Polytheistic believing in many gods.
Artisan a skilled craft worker.
Pictogram a drawing used to represent a word.
Scribe a specially trained person who knew how to read, write, and keep records in ancient times.
City-state a political unit made up of a city and the surrounding lands.
Empire a group of states or territories ruled by one ruler.
Steppe a sparse, dry grassland.
Cultural Diffusion the spread of ideas, customs, and technologies from one people to another.
