chronic disease A disease lasting more than 3 months that is not prevented or cured by medication (Heart disease, stroke, cancer, T2DM, obesity, and arthritis)

empathy the act of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of someone else (can be past, or present without them needing to directly say it
epidemiology the study of incidence, distribution, and control of diseases in a population
holistic treatment of the WHOLE person, including the mental and social parts of a person instead of just physical symptoms of a disease
integrity Abiding by a code of moral or artistic values
liason Someone who starts and maintains open communications for mutual understanding and cooperation
prevalence the degree that something is prevalent
S.M.A.R.T. S.pecific M.easurable A.ttainable R.elevent T.ime-specific
socioeconomic Relation/combination of social and economic factors; culture, religion, education, and financial earnings -These things help shape an individual's attitude and lifestyle
surveillance ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of data and doing something that leads to actions that prevent and control a disease (i.e. washing hangs so you dont get sick)
wellness A state of well being, esp. if its an actively pursued goal
