| Prehistory | the time before people developed writing. |
| Ancient History | The time when pepole started writing to about 500 CE |
| Middle Ages | 500 C.E. to 1400 C.E. |
| Modern History | 1400 C.E. to today |
| Calendar | A system for arranging days in order |
| B.C. | Dates before the birth of Jesus Christ |
| B.C.E. | Before the Common Era |
| A.D. | Dates after the birth of Jesus Christ |
| C.E. | Common Era |
| Archaeology | the study of the past by looking at what people left behind, artifacts. |
| artifacts | objects made by people |
| Paleontology | Paleontologists study fossils to learn what the world was like long ago. |
| Anthropology | is the study of human culture and how it develops over time |
| Primary sources | firsthand pieces of evidence |
| Secondary Sources | sources created after the event |
| Conclusion | a final decision that is reached by reasoning or in history looking at evidence and making a claim with reasons and evidence. |
