Vocabulary words

QuestionAnswer
Government The people and rules that make decisions and keep order in a country or community.
Economic system The way a society organizes how goods and services are made, shared, and used.
Religion A set of beliefs and practices about God, gods, or spiritual life.
Institutions of society Important organizations like family, schools, government, or religion that help a society work and stay together.
Culture region An area where people share similar culture traits, like language, religion, or traditions.
Cultural landscape The visible marks people leave on the land, such as buildings, farms, and roads, that show how they live.
Settlement patterns The way people arrange their homes, towns, and cities in a place.
Multicultural society A community where people from many different cultures live together.
Cultural diversity Having a variety of cultures, traditions, and ideas in one place.
Culture element Features that are found in every society, such as language, food, or music.
Culture trait A specific example of a culture trait such as shaking hands or eating with chopsticks.
Cultural diffusion The spread of ideas, customs, or inventions from one culture to another.
Hearth The place where an idea, culture, or invention first begins.
Human universals Things all people and cultures share, like families, language, or rules.
Cultural variations The differences between cultures, such as the foods people eat or the clothes they wear.
Human needs The basic things people must have to live, like food, water, shelter, and safety.
Universal themes Big ideas that show up in all cultures, like love, family, conflict, or justice.
