| Anthropologist | Studies the social relationships within a society (family unit, marriage customs, social classes). |
| Economist | Studies the economy of a society: the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services (forms of money, products produced, types of occupations). |
| Political Scientist | Studies the political structure of a society (laws, form of government). |
| Historian | Complies, interprets,and writes the information that is known about a society. An historian relies on the findings of other social scientist to help interpret and draw conclusions about a culture. |
| Primary sources | First hand information, such as letters, autobiographies, photos, records or other documents created during the time frame being studied. |
| Secondary sources | Second hand information such as history books that are usually put together after the event. |
| Archaeologist | Studies the material remains of a culture to learn that society (artifacts, ecofacts). |
