Body Positions
| Question | Answer |

| Abduct | A body part moves away from the midline of the body Ex: Raising your arm |
| Adduct | A body part moves towards the midline of the body Ex: Lowering your arm |
| Proximal | Closer to the center of your body Ex: Up my arms/legs |
| Distal | Further from the center of your body Ex: Down my arms/legs |
| Prone | Laying flat on the abdomen, face down, palms facing down Ex: Getting a massage |
| Fowler’s position | Head raised to an angle of 45-90 degrees with slightly bent knees Ex: Hospital bed when you need to sit up |
| Lithotomy position | Lying on your back, legs raised, knees bent Ex: Me with my legs on the wall |
| Knee-elbow position | Knees on the ground, elbows on the ground, chest and abdomen off the ground Ex: Hands and knees except elbow |
| Supine position | Laying on your back Ex: Sleeping on your back |
| Dorsal recumbent position | Laying on your back with their knees bent, feet flat on the ground Ex: Starting position of crutches |
| Sims’ position | Lying on your left side, right knee and hip flexed, left hip and knee slightly extended Ex: Me when I sleep on my left side |
