Imperialism When strong countries take over weaker ones to gain land, power, or resources.
Nationalism Strong pride and loyalty to your country or people.
Absolutism A system where a king or queen has total control and no limits on their power.
Enlightenment A time when people used logic and reason instead of just following kings or churches.
Industrialization The shift from farming to factories, machines, and cities.
Totalitarianism A type of government where one ruler has total control over everything (media, speech, economy).
Human Rights Violations When people’s basic rights are denied or abused.
Revolution A big change, usually involving the people rising up to overthrow the government.
Civil disobedience Peacefully breaking unfair laws to create change.
Globalization The world becoming more connected through trade, technology, and communication.
Westernization Adopting ideas or culture from Western Europe (especially by non-Western countries).
Capitalism An economic system where people own businesses and make profits.
Communism A system where the government owns everything, and there’s no private property.
Containment Stopping the spread of communism during the Cold War.
Genocide The organized killing of a group of people based on race, religion, or ethnicity.
