| PLEBEIANS | Not as wealthy as patricians. They included artisans, shopkeepers and owners of small farms |

| PRAETORS | Interpreted the law and served as judges in court |
| VETO | Latin for I forbid |
| TRIBUNE | Voiced plebian concerns to the government |
| Senate | Legislative body made up of 300 patrician men |
