What's autocrats? A leader with unlimited authority.
What's a czar? A Russian title meaning “caesar,” or ruler.
Who was the czar in 1905? Czar Nicholas II.
What is communism? A system in which all property and all means of production belong to the people as a group.
What's a Duma? Russian Parliment.
Who was Czar Nicholas II overthrown by? Revolutionary workers.
Who came to power during the Russian Revolution? Communists.
What were Social Democratic Party's based on? Marxism splinters into two groups.
Who were the Bolsheviks (Majority)? A radical Russian socialist group (the Communists) that supported Vladimir Lenin.
Who were the Mensheviks (minority)? People who wanted a more gradual, peaceful transition of power.
What year was the Bolshevik Revolution? 1917.
How did Lenin win many followers? By promising "Peace, Land, and Bread" which was his slogan.
Why did Kerensky fly to Paris? Because there was a “coup” against his democratic gov't.
When Lenin came to power what did he abolish? The assembly.
What became the only legal political party in Russia? The communist party.
Who formed the Red Army? Leon Trotsky.
Who was The Cheka? The Russian secret police.
Who takes over after Lenin's death. Joseph Stalin.
What's Soviet? A workers group that formed in Russia to plan and carry out the Revolution.
What are collectives? A large farm on which people work together as a group.
What are Purges? A government order to kill or imprison citizens who oppose the government.
What's totalitarianism? Having total control over all aspects of people's’ lives.
What are Gulags? Prison, slave labor camps in Siberia and elsewhere.
What is the capital of Russia today? Moscow.
What is the population of Russia today? 146 million people.
How long has Putin been in power? Since the 2000s.
