What does the spleen and lymph nodes do? Acts as filters in the body, filtering out dangerous things like infectious agent and cancerous cells
Name some blood conditions Ecchymosis (bruises easily), petechiae (develop small, flat, red spots on their body), hemophilia (condition where blood doesn't clot, causing excessive bleeding)
What is anemia? A common type of red blood cell problem associated with not having enough red blood cells
What is leukopenia? Low number of white blood cells, a deficiency in white blood cells
The lymph system includes? Lymph nodes, lymphatic vessels, the thymus, spleen, tonsils
What is reticulocyte? An immature red blood cell
What is thrombosis? A formation of a blood clot
What is the term for a disease that deals with problems in blood coagulations? Coagulation
Thrombocyte Platelet - they are small scab makers of the body, they patch things up
Red blood cells, white blood cells Erythrocyte- the transport trucks that bring oxygen to all the cells of the body and take away the waste. Leukocyte- fights infections
Left ventricle The heart chamber that sends oxygen rich blood out of the heart
The condition that involves the heart muscle being too thick is? Hypertrophic
Procedure that uses sound waves to from image Sonography, echocardiography
What is the superior vena cava? The portion of the vena cara that gathers blood from the upper portion of the body
What is Occlusion? Describes a closing or blockage of a passage
What is the hardening of a blood vessel? Angiosclerosis
Veins that are found in the neck External jugular vein, internal jugular vein
What is the medical word for inflammation of the heart vessel? Angiocarditis
What is a Valvectomy? A surgical removal of a heart valve
What is pericardiocentesis? Puncture of the tissue around the heart
