| EEG | Electroencephalography - used to examine electrical activity of the brain |
| Lumbar Puncture (LP) | collecting spinal fluid by inserting needle into lumbar region (spinal tap) |
| MRA | Magnetic Resonance Angiography - examine blood vessels |
| Transcranial Doppler Sonography | imaging technique that uses soundwaves sent through the skull |
| Tonic-Clonic Seizure | seizure that switch between tightening and muscle spasm |
| CVA | Cerebrovascular Accident - accident involving the blood vessels of the brain |
| Stroke | loss of brain function caused by interruption of blood supply to the brain |
| TIA | Transient Ischemic Attack - ministroke (goes away within 24hrs) |
| Embolus | foreign object |
| Psychosis | mind condition |
| Neurosis | nerve condition |
| Schizophrenia | mental illness characterized by delusions, hallucinations and disordered speech |
