Graves Overproduction of thyroid hormones; exophthalmic goiter
Parkinson Disease Degenerative disease affecting movement, including speech
Morbidity The risk of being sick
Auscultation Thing we listen to on the body
Afebrile Without or Free from a fever
Palliative To relieve symptoms but not cure them
Occupational Therapist Specially trained in evaluating and treating problems with performing daily activities at home, school, or work
The axial Made up of the skull, the spine (which is made up of the vertebrae), sternum, and ribs.

Analgesic Drugs to treat musculoskeletal problems: Relieves pain
External Fixation (keeping still) of a bone from the outside of the body (cast, splint)
NSAID Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug
Echoencephalography Examination of the brain using sound waves
Electroencephalography (EEG) Recording of the electrical activity of the brain
TIA Transient Ischemic Attack: A temporary loss of blood flow to the brain (i.e. “mini stroke”)
Afferent Nerve Sensory Nerve; goes from periphery to central nervous system
Agnosia Inability to comprehend (lack of knowledge)
Exotropia Outward turning of the eye, away from the nose
Strabismus Eyes deviate while looking at the same object
Cerumen Impaction Build up of earwax, blocking the ear canal.
Dacryocystitis Inflammation of the tear sac
OD Right eye
Thrombocyte Blood cell that forms clots (platelet)
Erythrocyte Red blood cell
Thromboembolism Condition of having a clot that traveled to another location
Hypercholesterolemia Elevated cholesterol in the blood
Anticoagulant prevents clotting
Valvulotomy Incision into a heart valve
Atrial Septal Defect Abnormal presence of a hole between the right and left atria
Angina Pectoris Chest pain due to irregular flow to the heart
Myocardial Ischemia Reduced blood flow to the heart tissue
PCI Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (procedures that are completed by threading tools into vessels and into the heart)
Rhinorrhea Discharge from the nose
Bronchiolectasis Widening of a bronchiole

Pectoriloquy Patient speaks while the health professional listens to areas with a stethoscope

Oophorectomy Surgical removal of an ovary​
CPD Cephalopelvic Disproportion: Condition characterized by the inability of the mother’s pelvis to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal​.
Menorrhagia Excessive menstrual flow
Abortifacient Drug or device that causes termination of the pregnancy
Amniorrhea Amniotic discharge (“water” break during labor)​
Oligomenorrhea Infrequent or light menstruation flow
Gestation Process of carrying a child from conception to birth
