David & the Covenant

QuestionAnswer
Explain what the Covenant was between God and David. God would make David's name great, provide a home for his people, and raise up his offspring to establish a kingdom forever. This was true even though David messed up.
What are the two types of covenants in the Bible? Conditional: I do this, you do that Unconditional: you're in no matter what
What was the sign of the covenant with David? The temple!
What are the “3 Loves” that every King must have, as covered in class? -love God -love the covenant -love the people
Which King is associated with the book of Proverbs? Solomon
What was the significance of the temple for the people of Israel? proximity with God, meeting with God
What are the 3 things each temple needs, in order to be a Biblical temple? People Place Presence of God
Why was Jerusalem such a big deal for the community of Israel? It's the city of proximity to God because his temple is there. That means God's presence is there. Proverbs was written there. Jesus died a little outside of it.
What are the 3 concepts of wisdom? Can you describe each? Trajectory: the path that you are on, who you are following Character: your name, reputation, identity Investment: expending energy or resources now to see a benefit in the future. (think big picture)

What is the goal of the book of Proverbs? to instruct young people and give insight into the "good life," to learn the fear of God

What is the plot line in God’s story, as covered in class? Protagonist: God Antagonist: Satan, sin, death Conflict: sin destroys God's creation (bodies, relationships, nature) Resolution: covenant!
