| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| electrostatic force | is the ion movement due to opposite charges being attracted to each other |
| Concentration gradient | Is the ion movement due to differences concentration density |
| Depolarization | is when the electrical charge of the neuron rises, decreasing the difference between the inside and outside of the cell |
| Hyperpolarization | Is when the electrical charge of a neuron lowers, increasing the difference between the inside and outside of the cell |
| Propagation | Is the movement of a signal down the axon |
| Continuous Conductance | Is the propagation of a signal down unmyelinated neurons |
| Saltatory Conductance | Is the propagation of a signal down myelinated neurons |
