Renaissance, Reformation and Exploration

| Indulgences | Pardons for sins that were sold by the Catholic Church |
| Puritan | Members fo the Church of England that wanted to "purify" it of Catholic practices; very strict Protestants |

| Conquistadors | A Spanish adventurer who came to the Americas in search of gold |
| "New World" | Land "found" by European explorers. North and South America |
| Columbian Exchange | Food and goods that were exchanged between the "Old" and "New" worlds by the explorers |
| Treaty of Tordesillas | The treaty that created an imaginary line showing which lands the Spanish and the Portuguese could claim as colonies |
| Spanish Armada | A large group of warships; in this case a group of warships built by King Philip II of Spain |
