| Bruit | Abnormal sound generated by turbulent flow of blood in an artery due to either an area of partial obstruction or a localized high rate of blood flow through an unobstructed artery |
| Febrile | Pertaining to or characterized by an elevated body temperature |
| orthostatic hypotension | Abnormally low blood pressure occurring when a person stands |
| Pyrogens | substances that cause a rise in body temperature, as in the case of bacterial toxins |
| Systemic | affecting the entire body instead of a single organ or body part |
| Diaphoresis | Secretion of sweat, especially profuse secretion associated with an elevated body temperature, physical exertion, or emotional stress. |
| Dysrhythmia | Deviation of a normal pattern of the heartbeat |
| Edema | Swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in the body's tissues |
| Hypoxemia | Abnormally low oxygen in the blood |
| Cyanosis | Bluish discoloration of the skin resulting from poor circulation or inadequate oxygenation of the blood. |
| Bradycardia | Slow regular heart rate below 60 beats/min |
| Tachycardia | Rapid regular heart rate ranging between 100 and 150 beats/min |
| Bradypnea | Abnormally slow breathing |
| Tachypnea | Abnormally fast breathing |
| Dyspnea | Difficult or labored breathing |
| Optic | Relating to eye or vision |
| Otorrhea | Drainage of liquid from the ear |
| Lesion | A region in an organ or tissue which has suffered damage through injury or disease, such as a wound, ulcer, abscess, or tumor |
| Pallor | An unhealthy pale appearance |
| Pruritus | Severe itching of the skin, as a symptom of various ailments |
| Erythema | Redness of the skin, either in a limited area or all over |
| Vertigo | A sudden internal or external spinning sensation |
| Syncope | Fainting, or a sudden temporary loss of consciousness |
| Aphasia | Loss of ability to understand or express speech, caused by brain damage |
| Nystagmus | Rapid involuntary movements of the eyes |
| Orthopnea | The sensation of breathlessness in the recumbent position, relieved by sitting of standing |
| Turgor | The elasticity of the skin |
| Murmur | Swishing or blowing sounds heard at the beginning, middle, or end of the systolic or diastolic phase |
| Thrill | A continuous palpable sensation that resembles the purring of a cat |
