Renaissance Refers to the period after Europe's Middle ages. Means "Rebirth".
Humanism A way of learning and thinking that values the importance of humans actions and abilities.
Reformation A reforming movement against the Roman Catholic church.
Protestants People who protested against the Roman Catholic church
Catholic Reformation The effort to stop the wide spread of protestantism and to reform the Catholic church within.
Federalism The sharing and borrowing of power between local governments and a powerful, strong central government.
Classical Referring to the ancient cultures of Greece and Rome.
Affect To change or influence.
Agreement A decision reached by two or more people or groups.
Perspective The appearance of distance or depth on a flat surface as in a painting.
Patron A person who supports the arts or other activities by supplying money for them.
City-state An independent state consisting of a city and its surrounding territory.
Republic A form of government in which people elect representatives to rule in their name.
Humanities Areas of study that focus on human life and culture, such as history, literature, and ethics.
