| Barge | A broad, flat bottomed boat |
| Cartouche | A carved tablet representing a scroll ( a roll of paper) with rolled up ends |
| Harpoon | A barbed spear, used for hunting large fish |
| Hieroglyphics | Writing made up of pictographic (picture) symbols |
| Khemet | Ancient Egypt name for their land (Means "Black Land") |
| Leeves | A bank (high pile of dirt) built along a river to prevent flooding |
| Mummification | The process of preserving the bodies of the dead |
| Nobles | People belonging to a high class that have special social or political status |
| Obelisks | A four-sided pillar that ends in a pyramid, used as a monument |
| Papyrus | A plant that is made into strips and pressed into material on which a person can write |
| Peasants | People in a low ranking social class, who often worked in the fields |
| Pharaoh | The ruler of ancient Egypt |
| Pyramid | A huge structure that was used as a tomb for the Egyptian Pharaoh and high officials |
| Shaduf | A bucket device for lifting water from the river |
| Social Pyramid | Shows each social class in order of importance |
| Sphinx | Ancient Egyptian monument with the body of a lion and the head of a man. It guards the Great Pyramid Of Giza |
| Vizier | A high official in the government, usually the advisor to the Pharaoh |
