Anatomical Terms and Directions

QuestionAnswer
Anterior front of the body
Posterior back of the body
Superior something being higher (more towards the head) than something else
Inferior something being closer to the ground than something else
Medial something being closer to the midline than something else
Lateral something this is further away from the midline
Proximal structures on a limb that are closer to the attachment of that limb to the trunk of the body
Distal structures on a limb that are further from the attachment of that limb to the trunk of the body
