What was lay investiture? the appointing of Church officials
What was the argument between Pope Gregory VII and Emperor Henry IV? What was the outcome? Lay investiture, pope could appoint church officials but the emperor had the right to deny them.
How did trade lead to the growth of towns and cities? new items were introduced such as silk and roses
What was Charlemagne's dynasty? Carolingian
