Tracheostomy | a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the neck to provide an airway and remove secretions from the lungs |
Bronchiectasis | a chronic lung disease that causes the airways in the lungs to permanently widen and thicken |
Sleep apnea | a sleep disorder that causes people to stop breathing or breathe shallowly while they sleep |
Pneumonectomy | a surgical procedure to remove one or both lungs |
Cholecystectomy | a surgical procedure that removes the gallbladder |
Hepatomegaly | an enlarged liver |
Colonoscopy | a procedure a doctor uses to look at the inside of the colon and rectum with a colonoscope |
Nephrectomy | surgical removal of one or both of the kidneys. |
Urethritis | a condition that causes inflammation of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body |
nasal cavity | the space inside the nose that allows air to pass through |
Alveoli | tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the lungs and the blood |
Gastric Juice | a thin, clear, virtually colorless acidic fluid secreted by the stomach glands and active in promoting digestion. |
Pancreatic enzymes | digestive juices produced by the pancreas to break down food |
Nephron | a functional unit of the kidney that filters blood, regulates blood pressure and volume, and excretes waste |
urinary tract infection (UTI) | a common infection that occurs when bacteria enter the urinary tract, which includes the bladder, kidneys, and urethra |
Asthma | a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation of the airways, making it difficult to breathe |
