General Comfort Measures

a.m. care care given in the early morning when the patient first awakens

Periodontal Disease potentially serious condition that damages the soft tissue and bone that support teeth
p.m. care care given to prepare a patient for sleep
Anticoagulant medication that thins the blood and increase the risk of bleeding
Bridging supporting the body on either side of an affected area to relieve pressure on the area
Foot Board appliance placed at the foot of the bed so that the bed so that the feet rest firmly against it and are kept at right angles to the legs
Foot Drop neurological problem that causes the foot to point downward
Incontinent inability to control the flow of urine from bladder
Fracture Bedpan is used for patients who cannot elevate the pelvic area
Commode a plastic toilet seat, holding a chamber pot under the seat for patients who can't make it to the bathroom
Urinal used my male patients when they need to urinate, (duct or bottle)
