What was the “economedia” system? Whom did this system benefit? -The “economedia” system gave the Spaniards the right to force Native Americans to work on the haciendas. -Benefited Spanish Conquistadors
2 approaches that African slave traders took in transporting Africans to the Americas. 1) European slave traders, used Atlantic slave trading approach to bring Africans to the Americas. 2) European slave traders worked for profit they traded rum, cloth, and especially guns to African traders in exchange for enslaved Africans.
What is meant by the term “Middle Passage”? Middle passage is meant under both systems, slaved endured the Atlantic crossing known as the Middle Passage under horrific conditions.
What are some differences between slaves in Africa and slaves in the Americas? -Slaves in Africa =captured in warfare -slaves in Africa weren’t considered to be property or racially (less value) -Slaves could marry, own property & earn their freedom after a certain period of time.
