Chaco Phenomenon A major process of settlement organization that occurred around 1000 CE among the people of the Chaco Canyon known for having hundreds of miles of road with no pirpose
Mound Builders The people of a culture that developed east of the Mississippi River known for their large earthen mounds from 200 1250 CE
Hopewell Culture A common name for the Mississippi mound building culture, known for the variety of artifacts found in the mounds
Cahokia The dominant center of the Mississippi mound building culture located in present day Missouri flourishing around 1000 CE
Pohnpei A Micronesian island known for their complex urban constuctions made of coral and stone used for ceremonial, administrative, and burial processes
Tonga Islands A Polynesian state with a central royal court and widespread military, influencing those in the Central Pacific
Mana and Tapu Religious concepts in Oceania; people became sacred through a spiritual power that was kept pure with ritual restrictions
Yap An island in Micronesia that made ceremonial relatiknships with surrounding islands fearing Yapese sorcery
