Vertical integration The control of a variety of ecological zones in areas of diverse climates and competing cities, common in Mesopotamia and Andean civilizations.
Maya civilization A major civilization of mesoamerica known for their elaborate writting system in America from 250 to 900 CE
Teotihuacán A large empire located in the Valley of Mexico from 300 to 600 CE known for having a population up to 150,000 and for heavily influencing the surrounding regions.
Chavín An Andean town located in the rainforests of Peru, known for having a large religious movement from 900 to 200 BCE
Moche A civilization in northern Peru governed by warrior priests from 100 to 800 CE
Wait and Tinwanaku Two Andean states that flourished from 400 to 1000 CE, known for having huge populations and highly successful agricultural stystems.
