| Acute | A condition that starts suddenly, can be severe, but is usually short. |
| Chronic | A condition that persists or recurs and can be severe. |
| Contusion | A bruise, or blood under the skin caused by trauma. |
| Abdomen | The tummy area from the lower ribs to the pelvis. |
| BMI | Body mass index, a measure of body fat based on height and weight. |
| BP | Blood pressure, a vital sign recorded during a physical examination. |
| CPR | Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a life-saving technique also known as mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. |
| ED/ER | Emergency department/Emergency room |
| DNR | Do not resuscitate |
| NPO | Nothing by mouth |
| Parkinson's disease | A disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors. |
| Alzheimer's disease | A progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. |
| Crohn's disease | A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract. |
| Huntington's disease | An inherited condition in which nerve cells in the brain break down over time. |
| Lou Gehrig's disease | A nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. |
