Prehistory An era where humans hadn't been able to read, write, record data, etc..
Paleolithic Era Era of prehistory (2 million - 9000 BC)
Neolithic Era Final era of prehistory. Humans develop new skills and technology that led to dramatic changes in life. (New Stone Age )
Neolithic Revolution A settled period of time of agricultural importance. (Increase in temperature - Longer growing seasons - Increase Supply of grains - Larger population - Increase pressure on hunter/gatherers - Division of Labor)
Nomad people who moved from place to place
Catal Huyuk A large, 7,200 BC, Neolithic site in modern day Turkey.
Jericho A Neolithic village that grew along the Jordan River Valley.
Traditional Economy Relies on customs or tradition which tends not to change over time.
Economics The study of how we manage our resources.
Steppe Sparse, dry grasslands where Nomadic people tended to animals.
Polytheistic The belief in many gods who controlled natural forces.
Empire A group of states/territories.
Sumer Site of world's first first civilization in southeast Mesopotamia.
Ziggurat A large platform that have been topped by a temple.
Sargon The emperor of akkadian who controlled Sumer.
Hammurabi King of babylon who set 282 laws named ¨Hammurabi's Code".
Civil Laws Dealing with private rights/matters. (Business contracts, property, inheritance, taxes, marriage/divorce.)
Criminal Law Dealing with murder, theift, assault, etc.
Bureaucracy A system of managing government through multiple bureaus
Harappa/ Mohenjo-Dero Indus Civilizations built on a grid-like structure. It consisted of Modern day/advances technology.
