| Enabler | Devices that help patients function at their highest possible level |
| Fowler's Position | Position in which the patient lies on the backrest elevated 45 to 60 |
| High Fowlers | Position in which the backrest of the bed is elevated to 90, with the patient on their back |
| Laceration | Tears or breaks in the skin |
| Lateral | away from the mid-line, to the side |
| Mobility | Ability to move or be moved |
| Orthopneic position | position in which the patient sits up to breathe comfortably. The patient sits as upright as possible and leans slightly forward, supporting their self with the forearms |
