What is irrigation? What was it used for? Irrigation is a system for storing water and preventing flooding. The stored water can be used for crops when necessary.
What is a ziggurat? Mammoth temples used as ritual locations to commune with the gods.
What is a City-State? Babylon, Ur and Urk, Sumer, Akkad
What is Mesopotamia? An extremely fertile plain located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers (land between rivers)
What were the names of the rivers of the following civilizations? China Huang He River Indus Indus River Mesopotamia Tigris & Euphrites
What is the difference between monotheism and polytheism? Monotheism is praying to one god and polytheism is praying to multiple gods.
What is cuneiform? The writing form used in Mesopotamia
Who was king Hammurabi? What was he famous for? He was King of Babylon. He made Hammurabi's code. It was a set of laws to keep his growing kingdom under control.
Confucianism Practice started by Confucius, a society of peace and justice understanding your role. People on the top and people on the bottom
Taoism founder Laozi how to live correctly and how to have a good government return to a simpler way of life and nature yin and yang
Legalism stresses the use of strict laws and punishments taught by Hanfeizi they believed people were selfish and would not do things for the common good.
Who was Shi Huang? What was he famous for? the man who unified China using legalism consisting of harsh laws and punishments
How did Shi Huang unify China? By using legalism to make one language and currency
What is a dynasty? A line of hereditary rulers of a country
Which Chinese dynasty inspired Confucian philosophy? The Han dynasty
What was the Silk Road? Where was it geographically located? The Silk Road was multiple different trade routes located from as far east as China and as far west as Rome
What was the Mandate of Heaven? The idea that there could be only on legitimate ruler of China a time, and that this ruler had the blessing of the gods.
