phlebotomist med lab assistant. performs a multitude of tasks from data entry to taking samples and preparing slides. Fifth on the chart
chemistry department one of the largest in the lab & performs the majority of tests.
triglyceride, cholesterol, electrolytes, creatinine, BUN, uric acid, liver and cardiac enzymes, bilirubin, serum protein and glucose tests are performed out of which department chemistry
hematology and coagulation conducts lab analysis testing to identify disease of the blod and blood forming tissues.
leukemia, anemia, infection and polycythemia tests are run out of which department hematology and coagulation
RBC, CBC, WBC, crit or Hct, Hgb or Hb, platelet count, diff are run out of which department hematology and coagulation
microbiology analyzes a specimen for the presence and type of microorganizms
C&S, cultures from: urine, stool, blood, nose and throat, body fluids and wound drainage would be sent to which department microbiology
bacteriology, virology, mycology, & AFB smears are done in which department microbiology
immunology and serology runs tests on blood serum to determine the antigen-antibody reaction of the body
mononucleosis, rheumatoid arthritis, AIDS or HIV, and syphilis tests are run out of which department immunology and serology
blood bank conducts routine testing on red blood cells and serum
blood typing and antibody tests, donor blood tests are done in which department blood bank
urinalysis may be performed within several departments depending on the lab.
S.G., pH, sugar, protein, ketone, nitrite, urobilinogen, bilirubin, occult blood in stool and leukocyte tests are done out of which department urinalysis
surgical and anatomical pathology perform: autopsy tests, surgical biopsy & cytology,
